Russia, Stop! World Leaders, Fight Responsibly!

In this article, I will try to draw attention to the total cost of lost freedoms because of Russia’s attack on Ukraine and why such large-scale military operations should not be conducted by any country!

This article is part of a series of articles with which I will question the current political organization of the world. My opinions do not imply that I blindly support any country or organization.

Russia Must Stop Its Attack on Ukraine

First and foremost, the world should be united and focus on achieving the most important goal, without getting lost in any discussions as to whether the West has provoked Russia’s attack on Ukraine: Russia must stop its military attack on Ukraine immediately! Any other discussion can take place once this attack comes to a stop.

Russia’s large-scale and highly destructive military operations in Ukraine are not justifiable. Russia is currently not under a military attack and is not defending its territories; it is openly invading Ukraine to establish absolute control over the country. The scale of Russian invasion is extremely disproportionate with respect to the disputable security concerns of Russia. This attack is way beyond the limits of a preemptive strike aiming to prevent future threats to Russia.

The argument that Russia is protecting Russian citizens in Ukraine is completely invalid given the scale of the attack. Russia is trying to achieve its political goals with extreme violence and is severely violating freedoms of millions of people. Russia’s political goals and demands from Ukraine do not justify such an attack and destruction. The fact that the USA has conducted such large-scale military operations in the past does not justify Russia’s attack. A wrongdoing of a country does not justify the wrongdoing of another one.

Russia’s attack inflicts enormous harm on Ukrainians, killing and wounding them, damaging their cities, forcing them to live in bunkers, basements and subways, depriving them of basic necessities and freedoms. Russia is forcing many Ukrainians to take arms and fight back even though they would prefer to live in peace and enjoy their lives. These attacks force many Ukrainians to flee their country and cause immense distress in the countries neighboring Ukraine and many parts of the world. The economic and social activities of millions of people who have relations with Ukraine and Russia are very adversely affected. Russia is also inflicting harm on many Russians, putting them into hardship because of the severe sanctions imposed on Russia over its aggression. The total cost of these military operations in terms of lost freedoms is extremely high.

World Leaders Must Fight Responsibly

Until a new international system is constructed, world leaders must stop waging wars on each other because of a simple reason: Wars violate freedoms of those who do not want wars!

Humanity needs to reorganize itself politically, socially and economically in such a way so that those who want to fight can fight without violating freedoms of those who do not want to fight. What I have in mind is a world in which military operations are conducted in special war zones, without affecting those who do not want to be part of them. Military operations and war games should only be funded by those who want to participate in the war games or watch them as entertainment. Participation in the war games should be voluntary and no one should be forced to fight.

World leaders, you must fight responsibly! You must stop violating freedoms of those who do not want to be part of your war games. You must entertain yourselves without harming those who do not want war.

And most importantly, both Russian and US leadership must announce that nuclear war is out of question! You must be responsible and announce publicly that you have come to an agreement that nuclear weapons will never be used in any military conflict.

I will write a lot more about these issues in the near future and make concrete proposals.

About Me

I have a vision: a society in which everyone can live the way they want to live without violating each other’s freedoms.

I expressed my vision with a book: Society of Freedom.

I propose a social contract to everyone: “No one shall violate freedoms of other people.”

I have created an initiative called Fora Stelo to implement ideas from my book.

I will write many more articles. You can follow me on twitter to get notifications.
